Independent laboratory testing
Every Steppe & Co. piece is independently tested by a specialist laboratory in China to confirm that it is natural Type A jadeite jade.
Each piece is supplied with its own physical certificate, unique laboratory test number and QR code linking to the laboratory’s official verification record.
Why Provenance Matters
-
More than 90%
of the world’s jadeite jade is produced in Myanmar, where the jade trade has documented links to armed conflict, military financing and illicit supply chains.
This makes the origin of jadeite jade an important part of any responsible purchase.
-
What testing cannot tell you
Laboratory testing can confirm that a piece is natural Type A jadeite jade, but it cannot establish where the material originated or how it reached the market.
That requires a separate, documented provenance record. -
A documented alternative
Steppe & Co. jadeite jade comes from a single documented source in Kazakhstan, outside Myanmar’s conflict-affected supply chain.
Each piece connects this provenance with independent laboratory findings and a unique product record.
Independently tested. Physically certified.
The independent laboratory examines the finished piece and issues a unique identification certificate. Depending on the piece, the certificate records:
- The laboratory conclusion
- Jadeite classification and treatment status
- Weight, colour and shape
- Structural or magnification observations
- A photograph of the tested piece
- A unique laboratory test number
- A QR code linking to the laboratory’s official verification website
Where the conclusion is Jadeite Jade (Type A), this confirms that the finished jadeite has not been chemically bleached, dyed or polymer impregnated.
